Wow, that one week looked intense to me, but Megan described it so calmly and smoothly! I think she is doing an awesome job by not brining any work to home (!!!) and dedicating herself to the kids and family the moment she steps home! I was amazed how active she is with the kids after she comes home from a full day in the office!
I was wondering, who is doing laundry, cooking meals (breakfast and dinners), packing school lunches, and buying groceries? Is it all covered by husband? outsourced to delivery companies? Anyways, great job you guys, for making it all look so smoothly!
We do grocery delivery nearly 100% which I LOVE and helps a ton. As for laundry, I usually fit in a load on a weeknight and then a few on the weekend. Kids are responsible for putting away their stuff (as part of their allowance) so it's not a super heavy lift by me. We have monthly cleaners and I do not have the highest cleaning standards so that helps too. My husband manages breakfast for kids and starts dinner nearly all week nights. And our kids all get school lunch which I LOVE almost as much as grocery delivery.
We have never made grocery delivery work... I think I’m fussy and the UK supply chain crisis is still ongoing. But school lunch, I’m here to sing the praises of school lunch. We get it free through primary school and at our socioeconomically diverse school, most kids seem to eat it. Which is a great equaliser.
Yay to school lunches! We do grocery delivery with all nonperishable staff, like rice, beans, oils, jams, etc. but I love to pick fresh produce from the market, and so it is not getting outsourced ever :) When i stayed with my friend in France one summer (before i had the kids :) , i loved the tradition of going to the market on Sundays, picking up fresh produce, and then grabbing a coffee and a pastry somewhere nearby. I try to keep this nice ritual during the summer months here in the U.S. as much as i possibly can :)
Coree- There is so many pieces of the day to day that never gets addressed, that you do here. Which is a beautiful way to honor anyone who’s either doing things alone, or doesn’t ever get the recognition they deserve. I appreciate this reminder.
